Notes from camp:

This past week I was at Kids Camp.  It was amazing!  Normally we have about 350ish 3-5th graders...this year we had about 400 3-5th graders and 65 1st -2nd graders.  I was with the little guys this year and boy did we have a blast!  

Some things you need to know from camp:

• A walk that takes you 5 minutes = 10-15 minutes when you have a dozen campers with you.
• Apparently I'm good at catching frogs that sneak into the lodge.
• Little kid hugs are the best.
• S'mores + little kids = giant mess
• It is difficult smashing a spider with the bathroom garbage can.
• "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" is a great group story.

• Playing euchre when exhausted guarantees some hysterical moments.
• Only at camp can you have 5 bars on your phone, take one step and have no signal at all.
• Camp Grandmas are the best!
• Need to spice up a game?  Just add water.

Operation:Adventure

Yesterday, I went on a little adventure.  A few friends and I ventured out into the world  and went to IKEA.  Ahhh Ikea.  The magical place with little fake rooms looking so cozy.

*Warning* Do not sit on comfy beds after eating.  An overwhelming nap sensation will come upon you.  

We walked, shopped and discussed arrangements. We came home empty handed.  Sometimes that happens.  After Ikea came geocaching!  Do you know about the geocaching world?  Basically it's like a treasure hunt using GPS coordinates and clues.  It great free entertainment.  

Now on to Operation: Adventure.  This summer is the summer of adventures near and far.  Sunday I leave for Washington D.C. with a friend and we are so ready for adventure.  So far our plans will include some obvious monument sight-seeing, one or two of the Smithsonian museums, cupcakes, a twilight tour, kayaking on the Potomac, and maybe even some geocaching.  It will be grand.  I will be good and take lots of pictures to share with you.

Ten Things We Wanted to Say to the Hot Hockey Players

Sunday night I went to a hockey game with my friend on her date.  The date wasn't too awesome, so when we sent the boys home, we went fishing for some Walleye. 

The people kind, not the fish kind.





I might have added "go on a date with a Walleye" on my Bucket List.  

This picture was two games ago...The best I did was pose for a picture and say thanks.

Not. this. time!!!  This time I had a mini-conversation.


There we were waiting for the guys to start coming out of the locker room.  And we see them....Some fine looking men in suits.  Remember what suits do to me?
I ask them all "Are any of you number 22 or 27?"

"I'm 22." 

I proceed to tell him that even though they lost, I appreciated his amazing hits on the other team and yeah...that was pretty much it.  He was very nice and said thanks and....again pretty much it. 

My friend and I got a little star struck. blush.

Of course after all was said and done and my friend and I evaluated what could have happened....we wrote:

(but we're not that bold)

10)When you hit that guy into the boards....it was really hot.

9) When you came out of the locker room with your shaggy hair and suit....you were really hot.

6) Mr. Goalie, when you got in that dude's face and shoved him around a bit...that was hot.

5) When you didn't put up with #27's crap...that was hot.

4)Did we mention how hot you are in a suit??  Well, you're hot.

3) When you stopped to talk to me...that was hot.

2) Mr. Goalie, when you came back into the game kinda broken to take over after the other goalie was scored on twice in a minute and a half....that was hot.

1) Walleye #27, when you got thrown out of the game...that was smokin' hot.

*This was written after some caffeine and sugar.  We were being silly girls. 

Ten ways the date could have been better....

Last night I went on a first date!  But it wasn't mine.  :)  A friend met a guy through eharmony and was meeting him for the first time.  Being the smart woman she is she didn't want to go alone.  (He could after all still be a weirdo and creeper.)  She asked me to be the co-pilot.  How fun!!

We went to a Walleye hockey game, which if you know me at all you know I was TOTALLY ok with this.  Her date brought his younger bother, who was only a few years younger than me.  It didn't turn into a double date, which I was soooo thankful for. 

Nothing exciting really happened during the date and after the game we parted ways.  We sent the guys on their way (they had a couple hours drive ahead of them) and we wandered around the arena hoping to spot a hockey player....which we did.

And we talked to two of them.  I was being bold.  Are you proud?

It helped saved the night from being an epic fail. 

My friend and I ended up at a sports bar and reviewed the evenings events...and created the:

10) He could have been hot.

9) He could have had less hair product.

8) The hockey team could have won.  (9-1 ouch!!)

7) He could have dressed nicer. (tucked in t-shirt)

6) He could have gotten sick and had to leave early.

3) He could have offered to buy food at the game.

1) He could have been hot.

Resloutions?

I avoid making resolutions.  

Like the rest of America, I have trouble keeping the darn things.  

So I figure why torment myself.  

Right? Right.

This year is a little different.  My resolution is to cross things off my bucket list. 

That I can totally do! 

There are two things that I have already taken the first steps to accomplish. One is running in a 5K.  And not be dying at the end if it. One of my friends wants to run one in March and by golly I'm going to join her.  And if for some reason I fail, the Race for the Cure is in September, so there is my second chance. 

 

 I know.  Way too goofy sexy.

I will do it. 

Run that is. 

Not walk.

I also added something to the list... "learn to knit".  This is a recent interest for me, mostly because of this magazine I found....

He he he.  I LOVE Jane Austin and apparently someone can put her name on something and have me hooked. 

Get it? 

Hooked.

Maybe that is a crocheting joke.  Don't worry I will be sure to show you my amazing creations.  This is going to be awesome!

October's Reading List

This has been a busy month, new job, sister's baby shower, tutoring, and let's not forget....reading.  Here are the books I read this month (and one from September that I forgot to list),

September's forgotten book...

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
First, a confession...I saw the movie first.  Gasp! I know I try not to ever do that, but this was one of those instances.  They are both very similar, but I did enjoy the book better.  It's the story of Liz and her one year journey to discover who she is.  She goes through a terrible divorce, finds another guy, falls in love, breaks up, gets back together, breaks up, etc.  She comes to a point when she says enough is enough and has decided to go to Italy, India and Indonesia to look within herselfand find her self-worth.  I admire Elizabeth Gilbert for taking the leap into the unknown about herself (which can be very scary).  It has inspired me to learn Italian (made it to the bucket list).

The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks
I have a love/hate relationship with Nick.  I have enjoyed reading his books, sometimes they are just so sad at the end.  Tear, tear.  This one added a point to the love column.  I started it not realizing it is a sequel to The Notebook. Swoon.  You need to read The Notebook (swoon) if you have only watched the movie, since they do differ. Hey! I watched the movie first with this one too!!  Maybe I do this more often than I think.  Anyway, The Wedding is the story of one of Noah and Allie's daughters and her husband.  Written from the perspective of the husband, Wilson. He begins the book by telling the readers that he forgot his 29th anniversary.  Completely! We go through the next year of his journey trying to save his marriage.  It is a very sweet book that most ladies will love.  One more for the road...swoon.

Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks
I bought both of these Nicholas Sparks books at a garage sale (one of my many weaknesses when it comes to book buying).  After I started this one I realized I had already read it, but remembered liking it so I reread it.  This one adds to the love/hate relationship with a point for both sides.  I do like Nick's writing style and he tells a good story, but there are times when I want to change the endings of his books.  This is one of those stories.  This book tells the story of Adrienne Willis and her love affair that began at an Inn.  Adrienne's daughter recently lost her husband to cancer and is having a rough time dealing with the loss.  Adrienne decides it is time to share the story of the love of her life with her daughter.  Another swoon is in order. Swoon.  If you enjoy reading the romantic love stories, this is a good read. 

51/50 The Magical Adventures of a Single Life  by Kristen McGuiness
I was given this book for my birthday last month.  Thanks, friend!  A interesting book about Kristen's adventures in the dating world. I started this book with the notion that it would be a light read with some funny stories.  At times I was right, but not as often as I thought I would be.  Kristen tells it all: her former life as a dug and alcohol addict, her current life of sobriety, her seemingly good relationships, her detrimental ones and the on-the-mend relationship with her dad. An interesting adventure indeed. 

 The Hunger Games  by Suzanne Collins
Another confession, this is the second time I have read this book.  I absolutely LOVE this book.  I am also pretty excited that they are currently making the Hunger Games movie! This book is the first of a trilogy that tells the story of one Katniss Everdeen and her experience in the Hunger Games. Set sometime in the future in "what was once known as North America".  Katniss lives in District 12 and it is the day of the reaping.  The reaping is the annual nationwide event when every District holds a lottery and selects one male and female tribute that is 12-18 years old.  They each travel to the Capitol to fight to the death with the other tributes.  I don't want to give anything away, but Katniss ends up going to compete in these "games".  BEWARE: This is a page turner for sure.  I stayed up to 4 o'clock in the morning when I read it the first time.  There is a lot of violence in the book, so I recommend for high school and older.  You don't have to be in high school to enjoy this book though.  P.S. I have Hunger Games fever so you will be seeing more posts about these books and the movie in the future.

My Bad

I've been neglecting you of late, and I'm sorry.  I have no good excuses.  Well, maybe I do.

My not so good excuses:

1) I am in the midsts of planning my sister's baby shower.  (It's a girl!!!  So excited)

2) I am constantly searching pinterest looking for ideas for said shower that I can steal pretend I made up use.

3) I started a new job yesterday, and trying to make sure I had everything in order before I started has been a small chore. No really it was just a small chore.

4) I've been reading again.  I've told you what happens when I start reading.

5) Things have been a little quiet in the boy department.  Maybe I can find excuses for that too....

6) I ran out of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies....for a day...then I found some in the freezer.

7) It has been Really REALLY nice outside.  We're talking 80 degrees!  For Ohio in october that's amazing. So yeah, I've been outside a lot.  Even got a mini burn.  :)

8) I keep getting sidetracked by Facebook the 7 million other things I need to do online.

9) Steve Jobs died.  It is sad.  And so I couldn't write because....I'm still working on why that is a valid excuse.

10) I blame plain ol' writers block.  There I said it.

The last week or so has been busy and yet dull all at the same time.  I figure why would you want to read about someone else's normal day.  Unless maybe you have a had a crazy day!  Ooo Ooo tell me about your crazy day!

Another list

I told you, I am a list person. I love that they make me feel organized. So besides the what I want in a guy list, I have a "bucket list".

Yes that's right.
I'm 25 and I have a list of things I want to do before I die.
Not to morbid, right?

I love the idea of putting down all the things you dream of doing with the hope of one day crossing them off the list. Some things I have completed already. Some things it will take a while. It doesn't matter. Now to be honest, I can't find my original "bucket list", (I said lists make me feel organized not that they made me organized) so the one you see is a remembrance of the things that are on the list.

So here it is....ba ba bum...The Bucket List!!!

Go to the Olympics (to watch, but not ruling out the possibility of being in.)

The list...

When I was, I don't know maybe 15 or 16, I made a list. It is a list of attributes and skills I want my Man to have. Every once in awhile I return to the list to partially laugh at some of the things I put on there, but mostly to remind myself that I won't just date any guy just because. I want a keeper.

So today I will share part of my list (lucky you):
not in any particular order

1) Doesn't smoke or do drugs
2) Nice hair- length not the issue, but well-kept
3) Share same beliefs
4) Ballroom dance-either knows how or is willing to try (at least a good waltz and foxtrot)
5) Well groomed
6) Has a job- well yeah that would be an obvious one, thank you 15 yr old :)
7) Sense of humor (remember I'm a sanguine)
8) Ok with being spontaneous
9) Doesn't have man boobs (insert laughing here)
10) Loves that I can be silly, and will join in. (sanguine!!!)

Now some items on this list are must haves while others I can do without or help out with (nice hair). I think every single girl needs a list! So much fun!
